About Dr. Sloan Rush
Dr. Sloan Rush is freshly trained Ophthalmologist and Refractive Surgeon who in June of 2010 completed his fellowship specialization in Cornea, External Diseases of the Eye, and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Rush joins his father, J. Avery Rush, M.D. as the newest member of the medical staff of the Panhandle Eye Group having completed his education and medical training.
After graduating as the class valedictorian from Amarillo’s Tascosa High School, Dr. Rush pursued a degree in Mathematics from Trinity University in San Antonio where he excelled both in academics and athletics. He remained in San Antonio for medical school, graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center in June 2005. While in medical school he was known as a dedicated, conscientious and caring individual who participated in medical mission trips to both Mexico and Central America.
Following a rigorous four year internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Dr. Rush relocated to Portland, Oregon to further his ophthalmology training as a fellow at the world renowned Oregon Health and Science University, Casey Eye Institute.
Dr. Rush returns to Amarillo as the area's only fellowship-trained corneal expert and is a welcome addition to the practice.
