Ask Your Surgeon
What questions should I ask the eye surgeon?
It is very important to adhere to your ophthalmologist's suggested follow up regimen and to keep all post-operative appointments.
Additionally, it is important to let your doctor know if you have any questions about your vision or your eyes. Only a doctor who has performed an examination of your eyes and has a complete medical history can accurately determine if your situation is within normal limits or requires care.
The following list of questions that may assist in your conversation with your doctor.
- Are the symptoms I'm experiencing within the normal range for my post-operative period?
- If they are, when can I expect them to dissipate?
- Is there anything I can do in the interim to alleviate the effects of the symptoms?
- If they are not, what is causing the symptoms?
- What is the normal course of action in my case? What treatment options are available?
- How much experience do you have treating this condition?
- What improvement can I expect with this treatment?
- If an enhancement is necessary, when would that be scheduled?
- How will you determine if I am eligible for an enhancement?
- What are the risks associated with an enhancement procedure?
- Will you be able to lift the flap or will you need to make a new one?
- Will that make a difference in my post-operative expectations?
